SMS / Text Messaging
MOPOSA provides SMS (text message) functionality as part of its wedding planning and venue management services. This section explains how we collect, use and protect phone numbers for SMS communications.
What phone numbers we collect and how
- Enquiry and booking contacts: When you submit an enquiry or booking via a venue's contact form or provide your phone number directly to venue staff, your mobile number is recorded in our system.
- Wedding guests: Couples may add guest phone numbers to their guest list within the MOPOSA planning dashboard. Guests may also provide or update their own phone number via the online RSVP page.
How we use phone numbers for SMS
Phone numbers are used to send SMS messages in the following contexts:
- Transactional messages: Appointment reminders, wedding-day notifications, and RSVP access codes sent on behalf of the venue or the couple.
- Couple-to-guest messages: Wedding couples may send SMS messages to their guests through the MOPOSA planning dashboard (e.g. event details, reminders, updates).
- Marketing messages: Promotional or informational messages sent by the venue, only where explicit phone consent has been recorded.
Consent and opt-in
- Enquiry/booking contacts: Consent is recorded per contact via a phone consent flag. Marketing SMS is only sent to contacts whose consent flag is enabled. Contacts may also opt out of all communications entirely.
- Wedding guests: When completing the online RSVP form, guests are presented with a checkbox: "I'm happy for [Couple's Names] to send me SMSs." This checkbox must be selected to receive SMS messages. Guests can return to the RSVP page at any time to uncheck this box and withdraw consent.
Opting out of SMS
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by:
- Replying STOP to any SMS message you receive from us.
- Unchecking the SMS consent box on the RSVP page (for wedding guests).
- Contacting the venue directly or emailing support@moposa.com.
For help, reply HELP to any SMS message or email support@moposa.com.
Third-party SMS providers
We use third-party providers to deliver SMS messages on our behalf. These providers process your phone number solely for the purpose of message delivery and are bound by data processing agreements. Your phone number is not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
